5 ways to style your wall quilt

Displaying your quilt is a great way to add colour, texture, and warmth to your space, and enjoy it every day. Here are my 5 favourite ways to style your wall quilt.

Above a shelf or side table.

One of my favourite ways to display a wall hanging is above a shelf or table. It’s fun to mix up plants, trinkets, and framed art alongside your wall hanging for an eclectic aesthetic. A wall hanging can be the final piece that ties all your treasures together and compliments your style.

In an awkward spot.

That tricky space at the top of the stairs, a narrow spot next to a doorway, the empty space above a fireplace, or an undecorated alcove; wall hangings are a great alternative to traditional framed art in these spaces as they are lighter and add a softer feel. I love the impact of a large wall hanging above a fireplace as it’s often the first spot that your eyes are drawn to as you enter a room.

In a cosy corner.

If you are aiming for an ultimate hygge experience in your home there is nothing like a cosy corner styled with candles, books, and textiles. Wall hangings offer a warmer, tactile feel than traditional framed art which is perfect for a hygge aesthetic. The Moonrise wall quilt below has a minimal scandi feel to add a little calm to your favourite reading nook.

Above a bed.

If you are looking for an alternative to a headboard above your bed then a large quilt is a great option. Quilts are perfect for adding that lived in boho aesthetic with just the right amount of soft texture. Follow my simple steps to display your quilt in this way. Another option if you already have a headboard is to display a pair of wall hangings either side of the bed; this looks especially good with some stylish lighting accents.

To define an area.

If you are looking to section off an area of a room an oversized quilt is a good way to define a space. Whether creating a snug play/reading area for your little ones, or decorating a backdrop for your home office area; quilts are a great way to distinguish the different purposes of areas in your home.

I hope this blog post gave you some ideas of how to incorporate textile wall hangings into your home. Whatever type of space you are looking to fill, from a large blank wall to a narrow nook, wall hangings are a beautiful way to decorate and express your style.
